Hair Care Tips For Healthy Hair

Who doesn’t love long, healthy and shiny hair but the genes, pollution and weather and our lifestyles play havoc. So today let’s discuss how you can turn the clock back and get to that shiny, healthy mane you have been eyeing for years.

Sharing some healthy hair tips that will help you:

Make Your DIET Your Focus

A good and rich diet makes all the difference. So let’s understand what you might be missing or need in your diet which may be causing dull hair or hair loss. The main nutrient in your hair is protein so make sure you have at least 45 gms of protein every day. Good sources are chicken, eggs, sprouts etc.

High Protein Foods For Healthy Hair

One of the reasons for hair loss is Zinc deficiency so incorporate natural sources like Brazilian nuts, walnuts, almonds into your diet.

Omega 3 fatty acids prevent hair follicle inflammation and promote circulation which prevents hair fall. They are are found in cold-water fish, such as salmon, sardines, flax seeds, yogurt, salads etc

Stay Hydrated. Try and drink a minimum 2 litres of water daily. There are many apps that you can use to set a water alarm. A lot of us tend to skip water but it is essential not only for healthy hair but for many other benefits.

Also, add a lot of fibre in your diet like fruits and vegetables. Go for whole foods rather than juices to keep the fibre content high.

Hair Care Tips

Other factors that play a part are how you oil your hair, shampoo it and condition it. Here is the right way to do these and some wonderful hair care tips.

Always oil your hair with a good oil before shampooing so that the shampoo does not take away all the moisture from your hair.  Massaging oil improves blood circulation, it also relaxes your muscles, adds to the moisture content in the hair enabling hair growth, repairs split ends and shine. Kesh King Ayurvedic Medicinal hair oil is effective against hair fall, dandruff, dryness, flakiness and other hair problems. It has 21 precious herbs that are cooked in sesame oil using Tel pak vidhi as prescribed in Ayurveda centuries ago. One of the unique features of Kesh King Ayurvedic hair oil is the bottle comes with a revolutionary root comb which stimulates the scalp and hair roots and makes the applying so easy and mess free.

When it comes to shampooing everyone has a different hair type and need for eg oily, dry, dandruff, thin, thick etc. Make sure you buy according to your hair type and understand what your hair needs. Some of us need to shampoo every day (oily hair) and some might just need to shampoo once or twice a week(dry hair). This also depends on your level of activity. So you need to tune in to understanding your own hair. The one thing you need to make sure is to avoid shampoos with ingredients, such as ammonium lauryl sulfate or sodium lauryl sulphate. Do not shampoo with hot/cold water. Always make sure the water is at a normal temperature.

A lot of us do not know the right way to condition our hair so here it is. Towel dry your hair after shampooing and apply your conditioner from the roots to 2 inches away from your scalp, making sure less amount reaches the top. Then using a wide tooth comb smoothen your hair out. Leave it on for 4-5 min before you rinse it out with normal water. We would recommend a no paraben, no sulphate conditioner.

How To Reduce Hair fall and Promote Hair Growth

Yoga Is The Key

Yoga is a great way to reduce your hair fall. All poses in which the blood flows in the direction of your head are great for reducing Hair fall and promoting hair growth. Some yoga poses to try are Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward dog, In this since your head is down for a few breaths the blood flows into the head, regenerating the scalp and hair follicles.

Adho Mukha Svanasana or Downward Dog

Other poses to do are Sirsasana or any other inversion. This also prevents balding, thinning of hair and can prevent premature greying of hair.

Sirsasana

Vajrasana- Sit in Vajrasana and comb your hair 100 times in the pose. Blood circulation in the scalp increases, and it enables the hair follicles to grow. This is an age-old proven method followed in many cultures.

Other Things to keep in Mind which we tend to Ignore

  • Wet hair is way more vulnerable to breakage than when it’s dry so no pulling, no harsh drying.
  • Even while using hair styling devices like a hair dryer or straightener, try and style your hair at not more than 185 degrees. Also, always try to air dry whenever possible.
  • Harsh sun rays can remove the moisture from your hair making it dry, brittle and damaged over the course of time. Use hats when you step out to protect your hair from this damage. Protect your hair with caps when you are in a swimming pool. Chlorinated water is bad for your hair.
  • Remember to trim the ends every two months to remove split ends. So as you see a lot goes into getting you that thick, shiny, healthy mane. If none of the above work, please consult your doctor for it can be due to hormonal changes in your body. Also, if you have been ignoring any of the above, we hope this post serves as a checklist to the reasons why you have been losing hair or it’s sheen. Happy Hair to you all !
